Time flies, doesn't it?
It's already the holiday season again, with Thanksgiving past us and Christmas on the way.
For online retailers, December is a crucial time of the year.
You may very well see sales spike as customers find the perfect gifts for their friends and family.
But this doesn't happen automatically, especially for smaller ecommerce sites.
You do need to take a proactive approach to get the most out of consumers' holiday shopping.
Some companies offer limited time seasonal products — for example, if you're selling coffee mugs, you might promote Christmas mugs with reindeer, snowmen, and other winter motifs.
But that's far from the only way to leverage winter holidays.
In a recent blog post, ecommerce platform Shopify offers some cool ideas you can use if you're running an ecommerce site.
Holiday Products and Collections
It’s likely too late to develop seasonal products, unless you dropship or use a print-and-ship app like Printful, but you can still add a holiday flavour to products and collections:
1. “Gift-ify” your existing product catalog
You can do this by:
- Bundle products into gift packs
- Update packing with festive add-ons like to/from tags or ribbons
- Or add gift wrapping as a option right on the product page.
2. Offer digital gift cards
Update the design to reflect the season.
Consider featuring them prominently on your site and at the top of gift-giving collections .
3. Add dropship gifts
Like flowers and chocolates to your product catalog with Gifty Dropshipping
4. Create new collections around holiday themes or gift recipients
There are endless ways to do this, it just takes some creativity.
