If you have unique thoughts that you want others to know, if you want to make a name for yourself, if you want to garner a huge following and if you want to create another strong income stream that never quits, you might find just what you’re looking for in the world of e-publishing.
What is E-Publishing?
These days anyone can make money e-publishing. No longer do authors, intelligent thinkers, hobbyists and all others who desperately want to publish their works for a large audience need to rely on gate-keepers. In this sense, gate-keepers refers to publishing houses that require agents and for you to have already made a name for yourself before they will take a chance on you and your work. Prior to the advent of e-publishing, the average person who wanted to be published had to send query letter after query letter and face multiple instances of cold-hard rejection before they could ever hope to be given a chance with a major publisher.
Today, publishing your thoughts and ideas and making your dreams of publishing come true are as simple as getting to work and making it happen. That’s right, all you need to make money e-publishing is an online connection, time and effort. To begin, you need to form a good idea.
Forming Your E-Publishing Idea
If you are stuck on what to write about, ask yourself what you are most interested in. What are your passions, your hobbies and dreams? You may find that you have a book just dying to get out of you. If you’re still stuck on what to write about, however, do some research and find out what people are most interested in. If you’re lucky, you’ll find that your passions and your target market’s preferences fall perfectly in line. For the purposes of our discussion here, let’s pretend that we want to write an e-publishing book about how to market a blog. This is due to the fact that blogging books are doing very well at the moment. We’ll call it, “Blogger’s Delight: 10 Steps to Blog Domination”.
Your Title
Notice how that title we just developed is concise, strong in language and consists of a nice list that is easy for readers to digest. These are the types of titles you will want to create to really get your book noticed. Of course this won’t apply to fiction works, but non-fiction works should have titles that cause readers to snap their heads in your direction. The title is what most customers will notice first, after all, so don’t just throw something together. Really bring it with your titles if you want to make money e-publishing.
Your Outline
Plan your e-publishing debut to the very last detail. Form a rough skeleton outline and then begin to flesh it in with information that is both unique and entertaining for readers. In our example above, we have ten steps to write, which makes the outline process easier. When you know exactly what you have to work with, planning and writing just becomes a fill-in-the-blank exercise.
Research
While you may have conducted at least some research initially to ensure that there is a market for your type of e-publishing book, you will want to complete even more research at this stage to ensure that your book offering is truly unique and that the information is thorough. For our blog domination book, we will look for advice on how to market a blog from the experts. Take the current information available, add to the information to make it even more thorough and then give it your own spin to make it really entertaining. That is the best way to make money e-publishing.
Offering Your Book
Check your book three times to ensure that there are no errors, particularly with formatting, and then publish your book on Amazon Kindle. That is by far the easiest, and free, method of getting your book out there to the masses. You can also visit CreateSpace, which will allow you to create physical copies of your book that can be sold at trade shows, flea markets and to your friends, family and associates. You may even feel ambitious enough to visit book stores in the hopes of making a lucrative deal.
The Apple iTunes store is another possibility, as is Kobo and even ClickBank if your e-publishing book fits within their guidelines. Those are just a few of the chances you have to make money e-publishing. Yet even with all of that, you’re still not through.
Market Your E-Publishing Book for Maximum Profits
Once you have written, edited and published your book, you will want to advertise it on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and other social networks. Visit forums that are popular with your target market and give away free copies in the hopes of getting a positive review. The Amazon Kindle marketplace even allows you two promotion opportunities; one that will offer your book free for a limited time and one that offers a tiered low price system. Both will draw attention to your book, which should increase sales.
Never stop marketing or writing e-publishing works, for that matter. The more you publish, as long as that information is of the highest-quality, the more money you will earn. Happy publishing.
