Network marketing is one of the most important aspects of achieving business success. Back before the Internet became as commonplace as cars and the microwave oven, you would have to travel out-of-state and, in some cases, out of country if you hoped to meet the true dignitaries in your field. You’d have to scour trade publications and subscribe to snail-mail newsletter lists in order to get the drop on any conventions or business-oriented meetings that might be happening in the near future. Then, to attend those gatherings, you would have had to clear your schedule, book your flight and any necessary attendance tickets; and only then in the off-chance that you will actually be able to meet and benefit from meeting the most important people as they relate to your chosen profession. Today, it’s much easier to get noticed by those who matter. With successful Internet based network marketing, you don’t have to leave your house, office or favorite lounging chair. You merely have to believe in yourself and reach out to those you want to meet if you want to make a name for yourself. This is how it’s done.
Network Marketing from the Home or Office
Instead of traveling to far off lands to meet like-minded and motivated business people, successful Internet based network marketing is conducted using the Internet and one or more of the online-based and incredibly innovative technologies that continue to propagate on the web. These are your Facebooks, Twitters, LinkedIns and Google Pluses; which represent a veritable goldmine of opportunity for today’s network marketer.
The following is a brief rundown of the various networks that you are encouraged to check out and use if you hope to be seen, get noticed and succeed in today’s competitive marketplace.
Keeping Tabs on Future Opportunities – All Social Networks and Popular Forums
Every social network available to you sports a search function. Search using terms that accurately describe you and your business and see what comes up. That’s a whole lot easier than traveling to meet people. You can simply search for those you would like to connect with and initiate the conversation.
You are also encouraged to use popular forums in your niche. Pay attention to the conversations people are having and slowly become integrated into the respective online communities. The right people just might be paying attention.
Your Resume – LinkedIn
In the past when you traveled to conventions and business meetings for the purposes of securing business connections, they usually did so with resume in hand. This document could easily be passed to other people and it would give a full breakdown of your skills, experience and education. Today, your resume is your LinkedIn profile.
LinkedIn is the business social networking tool and it’s used by millions of business people in nearly every profession all over the world. You can not only share your LinkedIn address with those you meet at future conventions and meetings, but you can also search for and connect with luminaries in your industry right on the platform.
Be Proactive At Finding Opportunities – Facebook
They say that if you want to make connections, you need to go where the best business people are. If you were to venture a guess where those opportunities might be at any given time, chances are they’re checking into Facebook at least once per day.
Facebook continues to dominate network marketing and most people – and businesses – have at least some type of presence on there. The new Facebook Graph Search platform is awesome and will allow you to find anyone, anywhere and using a variety of search criteria, making successful Internet based network marketing efforts a breeze.
Getting Noticed – Twitter
When meeting people in the physical world for the purposes of network marketing, it is always your hope that you’ll make a good impression on those you meet, and that they will come away from the experience with something positive to say about you. If they can attribute a great quote to you, that’s even better. These factors will keep you on the person’s mind, enabling future business opportunities and partnerships to blossom later on. If you want to make a lasting impression with Internet based network marketing, Twitter is the tool to use.
Twitter is a micro-blogging platform that allows you to unleash your knowledge, advice and tidbits of wisdom in 140 characters or less. Be selective about the tweets you send and keep them coming. You never know who will see them and want to connect with you.
Now Get Out There and Network
While there are many other social networks you can use in order to maximize your results – Google+, which is the social giant’s proprietary network and one that may give you an edge in the search results; which could bring about even more networking opportunities; Pinterest, Instagram and Vine, which are the more image-focused networks; and YouTube, which is connected intimately with Google+ – stick with the above three until you become more familiar with the process.
I’m going to leave you with a little piece of advice. Successful Internet based network marketing is very subtle. In other words, don’t be pushy or intrusive when reaching out to others in your field. Merely introduce yourself, provide valuable tips, advice or insight and let the other person or persons know that you are interested in success and you thought the two (or more) of you should meet and connect. Do it often enough and network marketing online will become second nature and one of the best catalysts you can use to fulfill your business dreams.
