In other words, don’t just hit the ‘befriend’ or ‘follow’ button rapid-fire in the hopes of racking up the most stellar friend or follower count. You need to establish yourself slowly if you hope to build a foundation on social media that will last a lifetime.

Reach Out to Others: It takes two seconds to send a private message to someone or to post in public, “Thanks for the Add” or “Thanks for the Follow” when someone adds you to their list of contacts. Likewise, if someone shares something that you appreciate, it doesn’t take much energy at all to say, “Thank you, that was great!” or to share that same content with your own group of contacts.
