For years the mantra has been that it’s near impossible to make money online; that earning an online income is a myth perpetuated by people who are trying to sell you something and separate a fool from his money. The fact is, making money online is possible. It’s not only possible, but many people are succeeding at doing it right now, right this moment, as you are reading this. In fact, some people are making millions of dollars, some are making thousands and some are making a whole lot less. The point is, all of those people are making money online. Here’s how they’re doing it.
E-Commerce
More than a few individuals are making money online selling actual physical products. They may have a wholesaler in China that provides them with products on the cheap that they then flip for a profit on EBay and Amazon. Some people put ads in the local newspaper and on Craigslist advertising that they will sell other people’s junk on eBay and Craigslist; and then there are those with their own products to sell. There are plenty of free, low-cost and premium tools and services online for delivering one or more products to market quickly and efficiently. To get started earning an online income, simply raid your closet and see what you can flip for a nice sized profit, then scale from there.
Freelancing, Consulting and Other Services
If you have a viable service that you can offer to other people for a healthy profit, someone out there will buy from you. The only thing holding you back from earning an online income with freelancing, consulting or some other service is a web presence. Get a website set up, start a blog and put yourself out there on social media. Get on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Google+. Put videos of yourself giving advice and explaining your services on YouTube and on your website, and share those videos far and wide on your social networks. If your web presence is enticing, if you have a clear message and a hungry audience, you will sell your service, guaranteed. Making money online is all about having a valuable offer and putting that offer in front of people who want it. That sounds over-simplified, but it’s really that easy once you know what you’re doing.
Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is both the easiest and hardest business to get started when making money online is your goal. You must find your audience and find a viable product to promote if you hope to make money. Yet at the same time, you didn’t come up with the product, so failure really isn’t a problem. If you don’t make money, so what? You can choose another market or another product or both. You wouldn’t be able to do that if you had thousands or more sunk into one or more products and services. As long as you choose your market wisely and you take a page from your competitors’ playbooks to dominate your market, an online income could be possible within the next few months or sooner.
Putting it All Together
Now there are many more ways to make money online than we’ve discussed here, but these should get you started. You can open an e-commerce store, offer a service, start affiliate marketing or you can use all of the above at the same time. It all depends on the resources at your disposal and how much time you have on your hands. Remember, when you start making money online, you are also going to have customers and clients to please. They may have support questions or they may want to inquire about increasing their order, and in some cases they may be experiencing fires that you need to put out. You can’t be everywhere at once, so start out slow and put forth action into making an online income with physical products. Or start a service, or go affiliate, but choose one, be consistent and don’t give up until your goals are reached. That’s the attitude you must have, the work ethic you must take and it’s the way things have always been, at least as long as the Internet has existed. As a final takeaway, remember this: Making money online is all about providing value to those who want it. Find out what your audience is looking for. Like truly looking for. What keeps them up at night? Then deliver that thing with a clear message, an irresistible offer and keep the efforts coming to maximize your results. Making money online isn’t difficult. What’s hard is overcoming your self-doubt to put yourself out there to actually do it. Start slow, work hard and you’ll get there eventually. You may even get there tomorrow, like a few lucky ones do. Yet you won’t get anywhere by not doing a thing. You know what to do. Just act and an online income will be yours.
