This summer is the perfect time to tweak your social media campaign, as social media tends to always ramp up around June, July and August, the very months when the weather becomes sweltering and people’s time becomes far more leisurely in nature. Some people travel, some loaf at work and some merely head to the beach for afternoons of fun, but everyone’s on social media while they’re doing it. Here are a few tips to make your social media campaign the talk of the town with your target audience this summer season.
What Does Tweaking a Social Media Campaign Imply?
To tweak a social media campaign means to make it even more targeted and hard-hitting. If your audience was paying attention before, they’ll really pay attention after you tweak your campaign. Likewise, if you were having trouble reaching out to prospects and customers, after a few tweaks, you’ll never find yourself wanting for attention again. Here is how it’s done.
Visual Appeal
The first way to effectively tweak your social media campaign is to change the visual appeal of each network you belong to. The networks Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and even Instagram allow you to customize your profile pages. While the graphics and colors you choose should match your overall brand so as not to confuse your audience, you might be able to tweak the graphics, colors and even the language you use on your profiles to make an extra impact with those who matter most.
Listen to Your Audience
A great way to tweak your social media campaign is to ask your followers what they expect from your social media presence. Do they want to see more humor, more targeted blog posts or do they hope that you’ll finally jump on Pinterest if you haven’t already? Just asking what your audience expects of you can help you maximize your chances of being seen and noticed online, as long as you actually put those changes into effect.
Become More Social
For many business owners, the mere act of being more social online can help you effectively tweak your social media campaign. Remember, you can’t just post and forget on social media and hope to become successful. You need to post and then discuss your posts. You need to watch out for pertinent questions that you can then provide adequate answers to. Most of all, you should be seeking out any opportunities to connect with like-minded people or (even better) luminaries in your field. Just keep in mind that becoming more social with your social media campaign does not have to take up too much more of your time. Even a few minutes here and there can go a long way towards helping your audience see you in a whole new – and positive – light.
Connect Your Social Media Accounts
If you are using more than one network in your social media campaign, which you are encouraged to do, don’t use those accounts in a vacuum. In other words, don’t just leave your Facebook posts on Facebook and your Tweets on Twitter. Cross social media promotion is a great way to connect your accounts together and boost engagement with your audience. Whenever you post to Facebook, for example, tweet similar content on Twitter. Don’t post the very same things on each network, or you won’t give your audience an excuse to check out each network independently. For example, you might Tweet your content and then leave a note that extra content is available on Facebook to encourage your followers to check out both platforms.
Using Your Social Media Campaign for Customer Service
If you haven’t already, you should learn to use social media for customer service purposes. Every time you make a sale, be sure to thank your customers using your Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or any other accounts you share with the customer in question. Using social media to thank your customers for their patronage offers a nice personal touch and the customers that you do reach out to will be more likely to remember your nice gesture and come back for more at a later date.
Finally, Don’t Stop Posting and Sharing
If you ramp up your activity, change your look a little bit and manage to become more social with your followers, potential followers, prospects and customers, you’ll begin to see the true power of social media. It doesn’t take much to tweak your social media campaign, but it does require consistent effort. Bring it more, post more often and your social media campaign will hit its mark. Then watch and enjoy your traffic, overall engagement and sales drastically improve.
