Many online marketers freeze-up just when they start to get going due to one simple fact: They set goals that are too far in the future to reach, and thus they burn themselves out right out of the virtual gate. In online marketing, it is important to break up your goals into smaller and smaller chunks for two very important reasons. One, smaller goals will help you feel more accomplished, thus motivating you to continue until you reach your further-away longer-term goals. Two, smaller goals will keep you from becoming overwhelmed with all the micro jobs that must be performed and thus you will be more likely to continue instead of throwing up your hands the moment the going starts getting rough. The best way to create smaller goals is to create the micro jobs that will sustain them. By listing all the small jobs that must be performed in between your smaller goals, you will be more likely to keep chugging along until you’ve reached your virtual end of the rainbow. First, let’s define what a micro job is.
What Are Micro Jobs?
To create micro jobs that will keep you on track for the big time, look at a typical project, such as building a website. A website is comprised of many elements that by themselves can accurately be described as micro jobs. First you have to purchase the domain name, then the hosting account, then you have to create the web design, fill each page with quality content, develop the meta data, and so on and so forth. A person truly skilled at creating micro jobs will be able to break up those jobs into even smaller jobs. Get them as small as you can for best results.
Random Tasks
Another benefit of learning how to create micro jobs is that you can get those random tasks out of the way that you usually dread doing. You might have tons of blogs to write, tons of emails and tons of PPC ads to craft; and you might hate to write on top of it all. When you create micro jobs, those writing jobs won’t seem so bad at all.
For instance, a blog post can be broken up into a title, the body, the call-to-action, the internal linking structure, the media that needs to be located and then uploaded to the blog post in question – you get the idea. Make a list of all of the micro jobs that need to be completed and make it really extensive. Then, do a few jobs per day and just keep checking them off your list. Before you know it, you’ll have reached your long-term goals.
To Do Lists
It is very important to set yourself daily reminders of the micro jobs that you have created for yourself. This can best be accomplished by keeping a daily to-do list. Pledge that you will look at and edit your to-do list every day, or maybe several times a day if you have a lot of micro jobs to complete.
Getting Help With Your Micro Jobs
Now that you know how to create micro jobs, it is important to note that you don’t have to do everything yourself. In fact, you are encouraged to get help completing those micro jobs that you just can’t get to because of your busy schedule. While you’re at it, you might want to recruit others to complete those random tasks that you don’t quite want to do.
You can find workers to complete your micro jobs at sites like Microworkers, Clickchores and Online Micro Jobs. You can also visit Fiverr and Tenrr where people will complete random tasks for five or ten dollars respectively. Those sites also have another use. If you are stuck on how to break up your goals into the maximum number of micro jobs, visit those sites and see what your competitors are coming up with. You may get some ideas you never considered before, and that can make your list of micro jobs even longer.
Whether you do it all yourself or you get help, learning how to create micro jobs is the best way to stick to and complete all the goals you have set for yourself. So examine your current online marketing campaigns, split those jobs up into various micro jobs and get started day-by-day. One day you will look up and realize just how far you’ve come; and, with enough constant attention, that day will come before you know it.
