The workforce can take its toll on you even after a few years. Long commutes, extended hours in the office, all the time away from your friends and family; who wants to spend forty, fifty or sixty years of their lives doing that all day every day? Unfortunately, some of us are stuck in this day-to-day rut. We get up, go to work, come home, spend a little time with our families and then it’s off to bed, ready to get up and do it all over again. Instead of running on that gerbil’s wheel and constantly working for the weekend, some people have decided to make their own ways in life. These individuals have chosen to work with network marketing companies, also known as multi level marketing (MLM), and this allows them to set their own hours, work how they want to work and spend as much time with their families and friends as they wish. These opportunities are multitude in number, but only a few are worth their weight. Your job is to vet the opportunities carefully so that you only participate in the MLM businesses that are proven and that have plenty of testimonials to back them up.
How Does Network Marketing Work?
Even if you don’t know what multi level marketing is, you have probably been exposed to it at some point in your life, even if you weren’t aware of it at the time. One very famous network opportunity that most people have at least heard of is Mary Kay. As a Mary Kay representative, the person will seek out women who are interested in buying makeup and will then make a commission on every item sold. This is a great income opportunity, but the earnings don’t stop there; and this is where we get into the networking aspect of this potentially lucrative venture model.
The Mary Kay rep will not only try to sell as much product as possible, but the person will also be networking with others in the attempt to build a team. The ideal team would consist of highly-motivated individuals who have a desire to succeed and a willingness to sell product and recruit their own teams.
The original representative would then earn a commission on every team member’s sales under her or him (yes, there are male Mary Kay representatives), as well as a commission on all sales made by those team members’ recruits.
While it may sound confusing, it is actually a viable and potentially lucrative business model whereby the commission trickles upwards in a pyramid shape so that the person at the very pinnacle of the pyramid gets the most share over time. The idea is to build a solid team that keeps recruiting indefinitely allowing you to retire to a beach somewhere as the constant commissions keep rolling in.
What To Look For When Vetting MLM Opportunities
Not all network marketing opportunities are successful, but most all of them are marketed to get you excited about the opportunities regardless. Your job is to pick through the marketing tactics in order to determine if the business in question is worth promoting.
First, determine if the product or service the multi level marketing opportunity is offering is worth the money. Whether it’s makeup, coupons, online business platforms, vitamins or any other commodity, you will want to conduct thorough research and read reviews and testimonials from people who have actually used the products and services in question. If you hope to be successful, it would help to feel good about whatever it is you’re promoting. After all, how can you get others excited about the opportunity during the network marketing phase if you’re not excited about it yourself?
Networking
While the product or service may earn you some money, the real loot comes from partnering up with other determined individuals so that you can all work towards a common goal. For the business to be successful, you will want to be very selective of who you choose. You only want people who will stick the business out to the end, which is that beach-lounging retirement phase we spoke of earlier, even when the going gets tough. If even one person quits, it can have a domino effect, causing you to have to start all over from square one.
On the other hand, if you are able to recruit go-getters and you manage to find an opportunity that is worth pursuing, you stand to make a lot of money. You and your dream-team of network marketers can go on to earn hefty amounts as the teams under them go on to sell and recruit, sell and recruit, rinse and repeat. With the right business model, you might find yourself at the top of that pyramid sitting pretty, which in the case of a Mary Kay representative means driving around town in that Pink Cadillac.
