On paper, network marketing appears to be a very lucrative business opportunity with unlimited income potential; and to a large degree network marketing is all of those things and more. Yet you can only succeed at network marketing if you are able to bring the proper amount of energy to the table. Likewise, you must learn to only recruit those individuals into your network who exhibit the same levels or even more energy than you are able to muster. It is with this immense amount of energy that any network opportunity can thrive. To see this in action, let’s take a look at two completely made-up network marketing representatives; one with low energy and one with more energy that he knows what to do with. Then let’s see how each one fares in the real world.
Attempting to Succeed with Low Network Marketing Energy
With low energy network marketing success will be virtually impossible. Imagine Joe Nedworker who rises early in the morning wishing he could stay in bed for a few more hours. He lumbers over to the computer and grimaces at the prospect of talking to people and attempting to explain the network opportunity he is involved in. At the same time, Joe is expected to sell products and services, as well as recruit; yet all he ends up doing is wasting time on the web until it’s time to go to bed, and then he wakes up and does it all over again.
Joe’s predicament may seem extreme, but there are many network marketing energy buzzkills in the industry and those individuals end up dragging everyone else down with them, particularly those within their immediate network.
High Amounts of Network Marketing Energy Make All the Difference
Now let’s see the proper amount of energy network marketing success depends on. To illustrate how an enthusiastic attitude can completely transform one’s network marketing game, let’s look in on James Gladtomeetcha who bounds out of bed in the morning and immediately takes to his inspirational notebook and to-do list.
James’ inspiration notebook is filled with his dreams and goals, photos of the boats and mansions he hopes to own someday, as well as motivational quotes from dignitaries he looks up to and respects.
His to-do list is very important, as it tells him who he needs to meet with that day, how many new prospects he has to gain and how many sales he has to close in order to enjoy a successful day. These actions keep James on track so that he is less likely to diverge and so that he remains super-stoked for what’s to come.
When James has to meet with others, either in person or via the Internet, he is animated and his enthusiasm comes through in the words he uses and the tone with which he chooses to convey them. The individuals that James deals with on a day-to-day basis find his network marketing energy contagious and soon they can’t wait to buy or be recruited; and they can’t wait to let others know of this exciting opportunity that James has just described to them.
Is James superhuman? Does he never get down or depressed? Absolutely not; James is a human being who possesses those very emotions just like the rest of us. The difference is that James has learned to control his thinking and his emotions. When a negative thought threatens to steal his motivation and the immense amount to energy network marketing success depends on, he brushes those thoughts away, clears his mind and picks up his motivational notebook and to-do list. He even has apps on his phone that keep him on track and motivated; and that he can look at wherever he happens to be.
In network marketing, energy is everything and you must bring a ton of it if you hope to reach your ultimate financial goals. You must feel motivated when waking up, when dealing with people and when describing the opportunity you are involved in with the hopes of recruiting others into it. For this to happen, you must truly believe in the opportunity in question and yourself; and furthermore, you must have a real interest in people and in helping them succeed.
I will leave you with a quote from William James that you should put into your notebook and look at whenever you feel your network marketing energy waning; and should you ever, for whatever reason, suddenly feel like throwing in the towel: “Most people never run far enough on their first wind to find out they've got a second. Give your dreams all you've got and you'll be amazed at the energy that comes out of you.” Good luck in all your future and highly-energetic network marketing endeavors.
